Although the Department of Education has shed the lesson plans to pledge unyielding support for Dear Leader (the teacher's unions have that covered anyway), his speech contains:

- 56 iterations of “I”
- 19 iterations of “school”
- 10 iterations of “education”
- 8 iterations of “responsibility”
- 7 iterations of “country”
- 5 iterations each of “parents”, “teachers”
- 3 iterations of “nation”

In other words, Barack Obama referenced himself more than school, education, responsibility, country/nation, parents, and teachers combined.

Lefties are saying, "Hey, Bush and Reagan made speeches to schoolchildren, so what's the big deal." This is the big deal: Reagan and Bush never cultivated the trappings of a fascist personality cult the way Obama has; the rallies in sports stadiums with thousands chanting party slogans, the children singing hymns to the dear leader, a fawning mass media made into a relentless propaganda machine for the regime. To anyone who isn’t a glassy-eyed cultist, all of this seems profoundly un-American. Obama has never told his followers to knock it off. Quite the contrary, he acts as though he feels entitled to it. The man is devoid of humility.

I've seen these bumper stickers back years ago when Bush was in office that say "Bush's Health Care Plan? Don't Get Sick!" This certainly rings true under Obamacare, and also under his plan your current private coverage and your health savings plan is in danger also. So if this thing is to pass, expect to hear news stories of Americans going to veterinarians to get an MRI or other treatment without waiting forever.

Granted, there needs to be some sort of reform in medical care to make it easier for people who might not be able to afford it, but this is surely not it.

On a Boston radio program this morning, Bill Cosby suggested that President Obama spoke too soon on the controversial arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.

“I’ve heard about five different reports [on the details of the arrest],” Cosby said on Boston’s WZLX. “If I’m the president of the United States, I don’t care how much pressure people want to put on it about race, I’m keeping my mouth shut.”

“I was shocked to hear the president making this kind of statement,” Cosby said referring to the president’s remarks during last night’s press conference.

SILVERTON, Ore. - Silverton's openly-transgender mayor is under fire for his choice of attire at a recent speaking engagement with a group of students.

Silverton Together, a nonprofit group that supports families and their well-being, filed a formal complaint regarding Mayor Stu Rasmussen's choice of clothing.

Ken Hector, president of Silverton Together, said the mayor violated the city's dress code when he spoke to a group of leadership students wearing only a bathing suit top, a miniskirt and high heels. Hector added three parents complained to him directly about the mayor's appearance.

"This was a business meeting pure and simple and it was not something on his free time," Hector said. …

Rasmussen argues the city dress code does not apply to him since he is transgender.

I can't believe the voters, regardless of how moonbatty they are, would put a .... uh,.... thing in charge to make decisions effecting thousands of people when It can't make a decision on whether it's a dude or a chick. Maybe they need to see if the water has something funny in it in Oregon.

Global Warming threatens to "obliterate" the breeding season for migratory birds. And by Global Warming, I mean, record cold temperatures and neverending winter in northern Canada.

May temperatures in northern Manitoba were almost four degrees C below the long-term average of -0.7, and in early June, temperatures averaged three degrees below normal.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration images confirm snow and ice blanket all of northern Manitoba, part of northern Ontario and almost all of the eastern Arctic as of June 12. U.S. arieal flight surveys confirm the eastern Arctic has no sign of spring so far.

"I have lived in Churchill since the 1950s, and this the latest spring I have ever seen here," said local resident Pat Penwarden. "The spring of 1962 was almost this bad."

Six-foot snowdrifts blocked Churchill-area roads. A thick blanket of snow, in places three- and four-feet deep, coated 90 per cent of the local taiga in northern Manitoba.

Remember, Congress on Friday is going to vote to raise taxes $3,000 per family per year and obliterate 3,000,000 jobs in the name of ManBearPig. (Which the legislation would do practically nothing to alleviate anyway.)

Will Concealed Carry Play In Peoria?

Even though this is more of a local story for me, it also might peak some interest nationwide. Peoria mayor Jim Ardis is doing something right by advocating for our city to become the anti-Chicago and allowing for law-abiding citizens to engage in their 2nd Amendment rights against the growing crime rate here.

In a PJ Star online poll, the majority of the city supports concealed carry in Peoria. Nationwide, even more Americans agree that the citizens do have a right to keep and bear arms.

I haven't a clue on why the liberals want law abiding citizens to become less and less readily available to defend themselves. If it were fully up to them, they would ban Super Soakers. But here (ala that hack David Letterman) is a 10 top reason for less gun control.

10. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
9. Guns don't kill people, but they make the bullets go much faster to kill people with.
8. Criminals don't obey gun control laws either.
7. Expecting criminals to care that they are breaking the law when carrying a concealed weapon is like expecting a terrorist to care if his car bomb is taking up two parking spaces.
6. For some reason, "gun free zones" seem to have the most gun deaths.
5. An armed society is a polite society. Manners would be important when your life depends on it.
4. Criminals love gun control laws. It makes their job safer.

"Under my plan of a cap and trade system electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Businesses would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that cost onto consumers."

In summary, if you believe the government is honest, efficient, and competent then, by all means, let the takeover health care. I would only ask you to submit proof that the government is any of those.

Man, who doesn't want to be able to fly? You can laugh at gravity, zoom through the air unaided, like Superman or Neo or several thousand species of bird. And, like them, maybe find out what it's like to take a dump in mid-air. What are they going to do, arrest you? Only if the cops have a damned jet.

So how fast are you going up there? Were you assuming you'd get super speed to go along with your flight? OK. Have you seen what a bird can do to a jet engine at high speed? Imagine what it does to your face. Yeah, that's why anything going faster than a hang glider has a windshield up there.
But if instead just you're flying at about the same speed you run, then, well, you're like that old couple that drives 25 on the interstate. The crime will be long over by the time your slow ass gets there.

"You've got to be f*cking kidding me."

But let's say you did get some kind of speed boost, and a bird-proof face. Do you know where you're going? Up there in the wild blue yonder, without landmarks, how do you expect to navigate? Do you have an exact map of the entire country in your head? Sure, you can find the Empire State building if that's where the bad guys are, but what if the crime is happening in some house way the f*ck out in the middle of nowhere, amid a tangle of looping country roads?

OK, so you get some kind of radar installed in your head. But now you have the atmosphere to deal with. Wind constantly blowing particles into your eyes and the freezing cold. Granted, you'd have to go up pretty high to get that effect, but you're not going to be a moron and fly where people can see you.

"No, honey, you take the car, I'd rather fly". Such an idiot.

Oh, by the way, you might want to be careful what you wear. Not only is it cold enough to freeze your balls, but lower temperatures mean you're more of a conductor of electricity. It's like when you're walking home on a winter day, come in and shock the sh*t out of whatever you touch. Multiply that by say, a million. If you're wearing anything like wool--though we don't know what the hell kind of superhero would wear wool anyway--you're going to be a human capacitor. If you happen to be a supervillain, we suggest working on your Palpatine voice so you can make one hell of an entrance when you land.

How did he feel about Bush just a couple of years ago? Evan Thomas wears his media bias on his sleeve. On the show Inside Washington on February 2nd of 2007 when asked by the host if the media were treating Bush unfairly, Thomas said:

"Well, our job is to bash the president, that's what we do."

Not this one, apparently. The media is too busy with their lips plastered to his keester. It's up to talk radio, Fox News, and the blogosphere to bring us the real news now since the lamestream media will not mention anything negative associated to Obama or his policies. Do we hear stories on the homeless now as we did day in and day out when Reagan and Bush were president? No. Why would they want to upset their "God"?

This Messiah has yet to perform one "miracle" to help us recover from this massive recession. But you might not know that we are in economic trouble if you listen to Evan Thomas and the rest of his cronies in the kiss-ass media.

California Public Employees Unions are shocked and saddened that the Assembly won't pass the massive tax increases necessary to maintain their lavish wages and pensions.

The relationship between Democratic leaders and some of their labor benefactors has turned particularly frosty: Many of the programs union members rely on for paychecks -- and the unions rely on for dues -- have been slated for deep cuts.
The union leaders say they are appalled that Democratic leaders are talking openly now about decimating government programs without first making a stand for bigger, broader tax hikes that could substantially offset budget cuts.
"Democrats came to Sacramento to help people," said Marty Hittleman, president of the California Federation of Teachers. "I know they did not go there to destroy government. For some reason, they are unwilling to stand up and say 'This is not what I was elected for.' "

Instead of blogging in reference to the negative; Tiller the Killer being lauded as a martyr, a soldier being killed outside a recruiting center, NoBama cordially inviting the nutcase in charge of Iran to an Independence Day party, I decided to post this piece from NBC Washington:

High school seniors Terrence Stephens and Jason Ankrah, star football players at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Md., were sitting on a plane returning from a recruitment session at the University of Nebraska when they struck up a conversation with the man sitting next to them.

Their seat-mate just happened to be a major Cornhuskers fan.

When they started chatting, Stephens and Ankrah didn't have a clue they were holding court with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

"I was amazed this guy knew so much about us as football players and as people," said Stephens. "That was shocking. I felt honored to be known by someone of his caliber. He was just a regular old guy, sitting in coach, which really shocked me."

Even though NBC reported this (for which I'm sure some editor is going to be canned for), this is a very nice piece showing Clarence Thomas for the class act he is.

And also, maybe these young adults he befriended on the flight might realize conservatives aren't all that bad.

Political Appointees at the "Justice" Department abruptly halted an investigation into the Thug tactics of the Black Panthers used to intimidate voters in the 2008 Elections. A Civil-Rights Activist from the 1960's was appalled by the actions of the Black Panthers, which included telling white voters, “You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.” The Justice Department has officially become the "Just Us" Department.

The Obama Regime has announced a crackdown on "any person" who criticizes the Stimulus Package. The language used in the announcement has creepy echoes of every rationalization used by the government to take away human rights (free speech in this case.) These are "extraordinary circumstances," and for the good of the nation, we can't allow any speech that would threaten economic recovery; it's like when the Iranian mullahs shut down the opposition press, or Hugo Chavez shut down the only remaining opposition television station. (And the American left cheered!)

Coddington Van Voorhees VII wing of the Republican Party (a.k.a "Republicans for Obama") keep insisting that the Republican party needs to be a "big tent" party, and to accomplish same by kicking Evangelical Christians (the ones who actually believe in Jesus Christ and don't see church a daycare and social club type thing), pro-lifers, tax protesters, "nativists" (i.e., those who support secure borders), and global warming skeptics out of the tent.

Let's consider this:

- Christian Evangelicals are ~40% of the population.
- Pro-Lifers make up 51% of the population
- 66% of voters in the most liberal state in the country voted down tax increases. Consistent with other polls that show 66% of voters prefer lower taxes and smaller government.
- 41% of the public is skeptical of Global Warming hysteria. And the number is rising.
- 66% of the public opposes Amnesty and wants the borders secured.

Couple these figures with the facts that Democrats already have a lock on the secular, pro-abortion, big government, ManBearPig vote, illegal immigrant vote and... tell me, how does tossing out the Christians, the pro-lifers, the tax protesters, and the climate skeptics get the Republicans back in power?

The headline on Drudge says it all. Bela Pelosi was lecturing the Chicoms on junk science and "environmental justice" hoping that they would buy into their hoax known as "global warming".

Just so that I am not guilty of taking Frau Pelousy's comments out of context, here's the whole quote and the prelude:

So that means Green Gestapo running around spying on their neighbors, taking down how much they're driving their SUV, only giving them certain times to mow their lawn, reminding them to limit their shower time to under 3 minutes, and don't forget about that roof that needs painted to curb "global warming". The elite though will still get to use as much energy as they like in their mansions and fly their jets around while we are forced to lower our "carbon footprint".

Republicans Can't Stop Sotomayor, But They Can Hurt the Democrats

As I have thought about it, trying to stop Sotomayor is a no-win situation for the Republicans; they don't have the numbers, and even if they did, Obama would only appoint someone just as radical. Democrats do not nominate moderates to the court. Period. The swing justices...Kennedy, O'Connor... are always Republican appointees.

What the Republicans can do is play hardball by focusing on how far out of the mainstream Sotomayor is on the issues of race, eminent domain, and gun control. On race, the Ricci case shows her support for race-based discrmination against white males. The Didden case shows her support for government confiscation of private property even where there is overwhelming evidence of political corruption. Her views on the Second Amendment --- gun ownership is unconstitutional --- are as radical as can be.

The game would be to make her a political liability for Obama and any Democrat that votes for her. Voting for Sotomayor is a vote for race-based discrimination, confiscation of private property, and gun confiscation. Make that vote stick to Democrats like a deer tick.

Republicans have to think of the long game. They can't win this battle, but they can make the Democrats pay a price.

Once again, this demonstrates ALS's liberal tenet about moral relativism: Islamic Fascists = Christian-"ists." Never mind that Christians are not blowing up airplanes, flying airplanes into building, strapping on bomb belts and walking into gay discos... we who worship are all what Ward Churchill might call "Little Bin Ladens."

No, the only things Christians are doing are organizing and voting. So what the Anonymous twerp is really outraged about isn't Christians threatening Democracy, but Christians participating in Democracy. I guess, to a leftist, only progressive fascists like ACORN are entitled to petition their government for a redress of grievances. Christians only have the right to sit down and shut up. IMHO, the combination of a one-party media combined with massive voter fraud and a Cult of Personality around a charismatic "lightworker" are a far greater threat to Democracy than organized Christians, but I digress.

By the left's definition, the USA was a Christian Theocracy until about 1962 when the Supreme Court outlawed school prayer; and the country seems to have gotten along well enough up unto that point.

Like most leftist moral relativism, this "Christian Theocracy" tripe is pure horseshit, but it got me to wondering, what would this "Christian Theocracy" --- this boogeyman of the far left --- actually look like? Supposing the Christian Right got everything it wanted, what would society look like? Probably something like this:

Abortion would be illegal in most places under most circumstances. There would be exceptions for rape, incest, and the life and health of the mother. As a result of this horrific state of affairs, women might choose to limit their sexual activity to men they actually wanted to have children with.

Gay marriage would be illegal. In other words, we'd have the same definition of marriage that's worked throughout human history.

Pornography probably would be illegal. It would still exist, in an illicit form, but would be much harder and riskier to access. As a result of this horror, men might no longer treat all women like whores.

Kids would be allowed to pray in school. Also, you could put a Nativity Scene on the courthouse lawn at Christmastime and hang the Ten Commandments on the Courthouse wall. This may make a secular leftists shudder, but it's hardly the same as decapitating the unbelievers.

Sex education would be eliminated from the school curriculum. As a result, instead of receiving sexual values from bureaucrats, the media, and their hormonal peers, children would have to learn from their families.

Creationism would probably be taught in school, most likely alongside evolution rather than instead of. I'm not sure that's such a great idea, but on the other hand, public schools have taught bunkum like socialism, global warming, self-esteem, whole language learning, and "everyday math" for years. I don't see how teaching Creationism could be more damaging to society than the crap they teach already.

That's... pretty much it, really. Whether that set of policies is "radical" I guess depends on how important you think it is to have unlimited abortions, gay marriage, a saturation level of pornography in society, and the complete sterilization of religion from every public space.

But Christian Theocracy would not include dressing women like walking Hefty bags, would not include special taxes levied against non-believers, would not include punishing people with death for converting to another religion, would not include teaching children that Jews are the descendants of pigs and monkeys, would not include legalized wife-beating, would not include strict separation of the sexes, would not include denying women the right to work or drive, would not include issuing fetwahs against people who say 'Good Morning' to another man's wife, would not include mass executions of homosexuals, would not include 'honor rapes' and 'honor killings' of young women for talking to young men, children will not be strapped into bomb vests and sent to "kill the Zionists."

But, apart from that, yeah, there's not much difference between a Christian "Theocracy" and an Islamist Theocracy.

Of course, we won't always wonder what living under a Christian Theocracy would be like. One day, we will find out.

Sonia Sotomayor passes Obama's liberal empathy test so he's decided to nominate her as the Supreme Court judge to replace David Souter. From National Review who examined her bench records:

Judge Sotomayor is a liberal judicial activist of the first order who thinks her own personal political agenda is more important that the law as written. She thinks that judges should dictate policy, and that one's sex, race, and ethnicity ought to affect the decisions one renders from the bench...

She has an extremely high rate of her decisions being reversed, indicating that she is far more of a liberal activist than even the current liberal activist Supreme Court.

Sonia Sotomayer highly favors reverse racism, or as it's come to be known, Affirmative Action. One of her most high profile cases included Ricci v. Destefano, in which several New Haven firefighters were denied promotions due to "a lack of minorities" among those who passed the tests, including Frank Ricci who suffers from dyslexia and had spent 8 to 13 hours a day studying for the exam. You can review the details here, but Sotomayer sided with New Haven's decision to deny these firefighters a promotion.

Of course, anybody who rejects Sotomayer will be seen as racist or sexist, although we conservatives could give a crap about her skin color or her genetalia. It's always the left that's hung up on your pigment or what you have between your legs, as said by Sotomayer herself here:

In 2001, Sonia Sotomayor, an appeals court judge, gave a speech declaring that the ethnicity and sex of a judge “may and will make a difference in our judging.”

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” said Judge Sotomayor, who is now considered to be near the top of President Obama’s list of potential Supreme Court nominees...

This is identity politics. There is no racism or sexism here. We on the right are opposed to her views that "the courts make policy" meaning that she would be an activist judge and that since she's one that Obama "empathizes" with, she would dismiss the Constitution and rule based on just feelings and opinion. That is not how someone who is picked to sit on the highest court should rule. And if Obama wanted a Hispanic, Miguel Estrada could have been given a fair shake this time around.

An Agriculture Department inspector fired the first salvo in the baked goods battle during Lent after spotting home-baked pies in St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Rochester. The church was told it's against the law to sell pies, cookies and cakes baked at home.

"Food prepared in a private home can only be used if that facility is licensed/registered and inspected by the department," state regulations say.

They justify this in the name of public health, claiming home-cooked food is responsible for 1/3 of food-borne illnesses. (Sigh) Basically, your government believes that you are too stupid to cook your own food, and too stupid to assess your own risk of illness from eating a home-cooked pie you buy from a church bake sale.

Instead, we supposedly need cadres of well-compensated bureaucrats to protect us from getting tummyaches, and whose pensions and benefits will drive states to fiscal collapse. I'm not saying there's not a valid benefit to having government agencies involved in public health, but the benefit to banning home-cooked pies seems marginal at best, and doesn't justify the expenditure or the intrusion into private liberty.

If you want to have some fun, the next time you're chatting with a liberal and he goes nuts when you call him a socialist, say to him: "I'm so sorry you're offended. I still believe most liberals are just well-meaning dupes incapable of thinking through the consequences of their policies, but clearly the end result of liberalism is the loss of individual liberty, and the empowering of an elite political class to rule over them; in other words, a reversion to the norm of human history. Surely, it is at least possible that this has been the goal of the left-wing leadership the whole time.

California Assembly speaker Karen Bass says, voters were tired and confused, and that's why they rejected the tax hikes.

See, it has nothing to do with California's bloated bureaucracy, its 235,000 state workers with solid gold pensions, or the $13 Billion spent each year on services for illegal immigrants. It has nothing to do with former legislators being appointed to cushy six-figure jobs on useless state commissions. No, it's because all this democracy made voters too tired to realize that taxes were good for them.

A few weeks ago, this same Karen Bass was caught trying to sneak through a pay raise for her legislative cronies despite the state's financial crisis.
